Richtige Bekleidung bei Neurodermitis

Correct clothing for atopic dermatitis

Dear KAMI skincare friends, Spring brings mild temperatures and blooming landscapes. Choosing the right clothing can be a challenge, however: In the morning, temperatures are still at down jacket level, while at midday, the sun beckons, beckoning you to wear shorts. This can be particularly challenging for people, especially children, with atopic dermatitis and other skin problems. The right clothing plays a crucial role in minimizing skin irritation and improving well-being. In this article, we'll give you a few tips on what to look for when choosing clothes in spring, which materials are suitable, and how you can best protect your skin. The importance of the right clothing for skin problems Our skin is the body's largest organ and serves as a protective barrier against external influences. In skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, this barrier function is often impaired, making the skin more sensitive and more susceptible to irritation. Inappropriate clothing can exacerbate itching, redness, and inflammation. Therefore, it's essential to choose clothing that protects and supports the skin. Which materials are skin-friendly? Choosing the right material is crucial for the well-being of your skin. Suitable materials: • Cotton: This natural material is breathable and absorbs moisture well. It's soft on the skin and minimizes irritation. Also, pay attention to the color! Dark items manufactured in low-wage countries can often be dyed with substances that have allergenic potential or contain heavy metals. • Linen: Smooth linen is very comfortable and gentle on the skin. It's breathable and ideal for warmer days. • Smooth silk: Silk is light, has a cooling effect and feels pleasant on the skin. • Viscose: Another material that feels comfortable, airy, and loose against the skin. However, the manufacturing process is crucial. TENCEL ™, for example, is particularly skin-friendly and free of harmful substances. Lyocell. Less suitable materials: • Wool: Regardless of its origin, wool can irritate the skin and cause itching due to its rough surface. • Synthetic fabrics (e.g. polyester, polyamide): These materials are often not breathable, promote sweating and can cause skin irritation. Fit and finish: What should you look for? In addition to the material, the fit and workmanship of the clothing also influence how your skin feels. • Loose fit: Loose-fitting clothing reduces friction on the skin and allows for better air circulation, preventing skin irritation. • Avoid itchy seams and labels: It's advisable to remove labels and look for flat seams made with soft, natural yarn. A trick to avoid chafing seams: Wear the bottom layer inside out, with the seam facing out! • Nickel-free accessories: Metal parts like zippers or buttons often contain nickel, which can trigger allergies in sensitive skin. Therefore, look for nickel-free alternatives. Layers: The onion principle in spring Temperatures are often changeable in spring. The onion principle, or wearing multiple layers, allows you to respond flexibly to temperature changes. Start with a base layer made of skin-friendly materials like cotton or silk and add more layers as needed. This way, you can remove a layer when the temperature rises, avoiding overheating and sweating, which can prevent skin irritation. Tip for parents: Make sure there is enough room in the child's school bag or backpack to pack the jacket at lunchtime. This will encourage children to take their clothes back with them. Care instructions: How should clothes be washed? The way you care for your clothes can also affect your skin health. • Always wash clothes before wearing them for the first time! New clothes may contain residues of chemicals that protect them from waterlogging and/or insects during transport. Washing thoroughly before wearing them for the first time will remove these and reduce the risk of skin irritation. • Use mild detergents without perfumes or dyes to minimize skin irritation. • Avoid fabric softener! Fabric softeners can leave residue that irritates skin. If you want your laundry to smell good, place a scented sachet containing natural essential oils in your closet. Alternatively, if you want it to be cozier, add a small amount of vinegar to the fabric softener drawer. Ironing can also help make clothes softer. • Rinse thoroughly: When handwashing, ensure that all detergent residue is completely removed from the clothes by adding an extra rinse cycle. Special clothing for atopic dermatitis patients There are manufacturers that offer special clothing for people with atopic dermatitis. These garments are often seamless, made of skin-friendly materials, and in some cases contain antibacterial silver threads that can prevent inflammation. One example of such products is the "DermaSilk" collection, which was developed for sensitive skin. Various suppliers offer suitable products for babies and children, such as bodysuits with an integrated cooling function for Skin well-being or the particularly skin-friendly TENCEL ™ clothing from tetoi-vienna. Read more in their Blog why this provides noticeable relief. How to make skin-friendly clothing appealing to children Children can often react sensitively to new clothes or resist wearing certain fabrics. Here are some tips to playfully convince them: • Let your child help decide: Give your child the opportunity to choose between different skin-friendly clothing. When they feel they have a say, acceptance increases. • Make it a game: Invent stories in which the “superpower clothing” helps you feel better or protect your skin. • Use favorite colors and motifs: There are now many skin-friendly clothing items in child-friendly designs. Clothing in the child's favorite colors or featuring their favorite characters can help win them over. • Set a role model: If you wear skin-friendly clothing yourself and speak positively about it, your child will be more likely to accept it. • Emphasize comfort: Explain to your child that the clothes are soft, non-itchy, and will make them feel more comfortable. • Be patient: Some children need time to get used to new materials. Don't force them, but offer gentle alternatives. More tips for everyday life • Sun protection: Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your face now. • Hydration: Keep your skin supple and avoid dryness with regular natural care. KAMI skincare products are specially formulated to keep sensitive, itchy skin moisturized to support its barrier function. We recommend trying the KAMI neurodermatitis starter pack. • Care: If the skin is already well moisturized when wearing clothes, it will be less itchy. If your children don't like applying cream, add a few drops of KAMI SOS Care Oil into the bath water and the child's skin is soft and supple without applying cream. With these tips, you can enjoy spring without causing unnecessary suffering for your skin or that of your child. Look for high-quality materials and gentle care products so you feel completely comfortable! Skin care for atopic dermatitis

Hello, I'm Dr. Kerstin Schallaböck from KAMI skincare. If you're new to our blog, welcome! I write these articles to share my knowledge about skin, children, and natural skincare with you. Atopic dermatitis is more than just dry skin. It's a constant balancing act between itching, inflammation, and the desire to feel good in your own skin again. If you've tried numerous creams and still feel little relief, perhaps it's time to try something new with KAMI: a holistic, natural care product that strengthens your skin barrier, soothes your skin, and is tailored specifically to you. With KAMI skincare, we want to show you a gentle way to sustainably care for your skin with atopic dermatitis – without any harsh ingredients or empty promises. Atopic dermatitis on the face – what is actually happening? In atopic dermatitis, the skin barrier is disrupted – as numerous scientific studies have shown. The skin loses moisture faster than healthy skin, is less able to ward off irritants, and often reacts hypersensitively. In addition, stress, diet, and environmental factors can exacerbate flare-ups. This means: Your skin needs above all Calming , Protection and Moisture . Not through heavy, sealing creams, but through targeted care that works deep down and is kind to the skin. That’s exactly what we offer you with KAMI skincare. Why KAMI? The power of natural ingredients Our philosophy is clear: Your skin deserves only the best from nature, especially when it comes to atopic eczema. That's why our products contain no synthetic fragrances, parabens, or mineral oils – instead, they contain finely balanced, natural ingredients with proven effectiveness for sensitive and atopic dermatitis-prone skin. Here is a little insight into our powerful helpers: Marmot oil: Contains natural corticosteroids in well-tolerated concentrations and in many varieties. Has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. Studies show that it can provide noticeable relief from itchy, inflamed skin. Grape seed oil: Rich in lecithin, which ensures the oil's rapid absorption, while also transporting other active ingredients. With a high content of linoleic acid, it improves cell renewal and cell protection. Calendula extract: Known for its soothing, wound-healing properties – ideal for irritated, sensitive skin. Rice germ oil: Contains gamma oryzanol, which has powerful antioxidant properties and soothes sensitive skin. It locks in moisture and relieves itching. Olive oil: It is very similar to skin sebum and has a regenerating and circulation-stimulating effect. Tanais Annuelle: Blue chamomile contains camazulene, which inhibits free radicals, strengthens the immune system, and relieves itching. Its scent has a stress-reducing effect. Lavender oil: It has anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects, and its scent is stress-reducing and harmonizing. Your atopic dermatitis care routine with KAMI – step by step Gentle cleansing without drying out Use a gentle cleanser that doesn't strip your skin of grease. Our KAMI washing fluid It's pH-neutral and highly moisturizing with peach kernel oil. It can be used on the face and body, in the sink, in the bathtub, and while showering. It removes dirt, sweat, and makeup without irritating your skin. Tip: Avoid hot water – lukewarm water helps prevent itching from becoming unnecessarily worse. Targeted moisture and care After cleaning, it's time to care for your skin: Our SOS Skin Care Oil and our SOS Skin Care Balm provide your skin with valuable plant substances, soothe irritations and help to regenerate the skin barrier step by step. Particularly popular with atopic dermatitis customers: → The KAMI SOS skin care oil – our most intensive product, ideal for redness, itching, and acute flare-ups. → The KAMI SOS skin care balm – combines the effect of SOS skin care oil With a cozy texture. Contains shea butter and forms a protective but light layer over the skin without stickiness. If your skin is very dry and itchy, apply the balm over the oil. However, it can also be used on its own, e.g., as a cold protection cream in winter, for sore noses or baby bottoms. →The KAMI 2-Phase Spray With organic aloe vera, it combines hydration with effective care. Ideal for dry skin and especially soothing after sun exposure. Stay tuned – and observe A new skincare routine takes time to take full effect. Give your skin at least 3–4 weeks to adjust. Dermatitis im Gesicht

Dermatitis on the face

Dear KAMI skincare friends, You wake up in the morning and your face feels like it's become thinner, tighter, and more sensitive overnight. Maybe that red patch next to your nose is flaking again. Maybe it's itchy around your eyes or mouth (perioral dermatitis). Maybe you're just tired of having to explain that it's "not contagious." If you have dermatitis or atopic dermatitis on your face, you know: It's not just a skin issue. It's a matter of emotions. And yet – you're not at the mercy of your skin. Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with a visitor at the MINI supermarket in Vienna who constantly suffers from flaky, itchy skin on his face. Only with daily use of a cortisone cream can he manage these symptoms. It doesn't have to be this way! Natural, non-irritating skincare can make a big difference. Especially if you want to avoid harsh ingredients or only use cortisone occasionally, KAMI skincare is a real asset to your skincare routine. Let's take a look together at what triggers atopic dermatitis on the face – and how you can help your skin feel better again in the long term. Atopic dermatitis on the face – what is actually happening? Neurodermatitis (atopic dermatitis) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Symptoms occur in bouts – sometimes severe, sometimes barely noticeable. The skin on the face is particularly sensitive because it is thinner, more permeable, and constantly exposed to environmental influences. Typical triggers: • Disturbed skin barrier (e.g. due to over-cared or degreased skin) • Allergies, intolerances • Psychological stress • Environmental stimuli such as cold, UV light or pollutants • Irritating cosmetic ingredients What helps? Above all, one thing: care that doesn't stress your skin further, but rather lovingly strengthens and supports it. Why natural cosmetics are often the better choice Many conventional cosmetics contain alcohol, fragrances, synthetic emulsifiers, or preservatives—things that can easily irritate sensitive skin. Especially if you have atopic dermatitis, you shouldn't force anything on your skin, but rather provide it with pure, genuine care. KAMI skincare consistently follows this path. Our products include: • 100% natural • All natural ingredients were selected for their specific effect on inflamed, barrier-damaged skin • Developed and produced in Austria • Developed for very sensitive, reactive and irritated skin Your facial skincare routine for atopic dermatitis – with KAMI skincare Step 1: Gentle cleansing with the moisturizing Cleansing Fluid : Cleansing is essential—but it shouldn't be drying. KAMI's moisturizing cleansing fluid cleanses thoroughly without damaging the skin's protective acid mantle. It contains: • Peach kernel oil – mildly moisturizing • Copaiba Balm: This active ingredient from the Amazon has been used by indigenous peoples for centuries to treat inflammation. • no alcohol and only very small amounts of emulsifiers 🧼 Use morning and night with lukewarm water – no rubbing, no scrubbing. Your skin will thank you. Step 2: Calming with the 2-phase spray or the SOS skin care oil The 2-phase spray is like a gentle protective shield for your skin—perfect after cleansing or in between when you feel tight, as it also provides plenty of moisture. Shake it briefly, spray it directly onto your skin, and feel immediate relief. Contains: • Organic Aloe Vera – soothes and moisturizes • Blueberry seed oil – anti-inflammatory and anti-itching • Poppy, plum kernel, and wheat germ oil – stabilize the skin barrier 💧 Especially pleasant when your skin “can’t tolerate anything at all”. Care with the SOS skin care oil: If your skin does not need moisture or is experiencing acute problems, use our SOS skin care oil for care; it has the most intensive effect. The SOS Skin Care Oil is a true all-rounder for atopic dermatitis skin. It contains: • Marmot oil – known since Hildegard von Bingen for its anti-inflammatory effect, with natural corticosteroids • A variety of synergistic plant oils such as rice germ, wheat germ, poppy seed and plum kernel oil – they regenerate the skin barrier • Essential oils selected for their properties: Lavender and Tanais Annuelle: they have anti-inflammatory and soothing effects on the skin and soul. You can use it pure or as a booster in your skincare routine, ideally massaging it into damp skin. Optional: Intensive care with the SOS Skin Care Balm If your skin is particularly irritated, chapped, or inflamed, the SOS Skin Care Balm offers intensive protection. It contains the same high-quality oil composition as the Care Oil—but supplemented with shea butter and plant-based lanolin—in a thicker, even more protective texture. Perfect for dry patches, overnight use, or for acute itching. What if you use cortisone? Cortisone can be a valuable treatment for acute flare-ups. But it's not a long-term solution for your skin; it becomes thin and loses its ability to retain moisture. KAMI skincare products can gently nourish and replenish your skin between flare-ups or as a complement to medical treatment. Important: Don't apply the natural care directly after cortisone – give your skin at least a few hours' rest before pampering it with KAMI products again. Additional tips for your skin well-being • Stress management: Mindfulness, sleep and conscious breaks help you – and your skin. • Less is more: Avoid layering with many products – this overwhelms sensitive skin. • Cotton towels, not microfiber: Soft, natural, non-irritating – just like your skincare. • Keep an eye on your diet: Some people with atopic dermatitis react to sugar, milk or gluten – but this varies from individual to individual. Conclusion: Your skin deserves careful care Facial atopic dermatitis is challenging—but not a fate. With the right care, calm, and a little patience, you can make a big difference. KAMI skincare products give your skin exactly what it truly needs: protection, moisture, and calm. No frills. No drama. Just pure, honest care. 🧡 Try it out – you can find all the products here on our site! Hitzeausschlag bei Babys & Kleinkindern – was tun, wenn die Haut rebelliert?

Heat rash in babies and toddlers – what to do when the skin rebels?

Hello, I'm Dr. Kerstin Schallaböck from KAMI skincare and today I'd like to discuss heat rash. Summer is here – even if it's taking a break this week – with all its warmth, sun, and... sweat. While we adults can help ourselves with a cold drink and shade, it's a different story for babies and toddlers. Their skin reacts quickly and sensitively to heat. Small red dots, itchy blisters, irritated spots? That sounds like Heat rash – also known as Miliaria . Learn what you should know about it and how to best care for your baby's delicate skin here. What is heat rash – and why are babies particularly affected? Heat rash occurs when Sweat glands become blocked and sweat can no longer drain away properly. Instead, it accumulates under the skin – the result: small red dots or blisters, often accompanied by itching or burning. Especially with Babies and toddlers This often occurs because: their sweat glands still not fully developed are she no efficient heat regulation have their skin especially sensitive and permeable is Typical areas include the neck, back, armpits, chest area, or skin folds – anywhere that is warm, moist, and tight. How to recognize heat rash: Red dots or blisters Often in skin folds or under tight clothing Itching, restlessness, increased crying in babies No fever or severe feeling of illness (Note: If you do, please see a doctor!) What helps against heat rash? The most important rule: Less is more. The skin needs rest, air, and gentle support most of all. Here are our recommendations for you – completely natural and especially suitable for delicate baby skin: 🛁 1. Our moisturizing washing fluid Provides ultra-gentle cleansing while nourishing with valuable plant oils and helping to stabilize the stressed skin barrier – completely without surfactants or irritants. Sanftes Anti-Aging trotz empfindlicher Haut – wie KAMI deine Haut bei Retinol & Co. unterstützen kann

Gentle anti-aging despite sensitive skin – how KAMI can support your skin with retinol & Co.

Anyone who has sensitive or inflamed skin knows the dilemma: You want to do something about the first signs of wrinkles, dark spots, or a loss of skin tone – but even a light fruit acid serum or retinol leads to redness, burning, and irritation. Many active ingredients in classic anti-aging products are simply too harsh for sensitive skin types. And so the desire for smooth, even-toned skin often falls by the wayside – for fear of overtaxing the skin barrier. This is exactly where KAMI skincare comes in: These gentle, highly compatible natural products were originally developed for irritated skin prone to atopic dermatitis or perioral dermatitis, but are perfectly suited to complement a classic anti-aging routine. Whether retinoids, AHA/BHA, vitamin C, or niacinamide: With the right "buffer" provided by the SOS skin care oil, balm, or soothing 2-phase spray, you can better tolerate even potent active ingredients—and help your skin visibly regenerate. I've been with KAMI skincare from the very beginning and am amazed at how many people with skin problems we help with KAMI. I don't have any skin conditions myself, but I use KAMI daily because the products are ideal for integrating into an effective anti-aging routine. In this article, I'll show you which anti-aging ingredients are currently trending, what their side effects can be—and how you can easily integrate them into your daily skincare routine with KAMI products. Which anti-aging ingredients are currently popular and how can KAMI complement them? In the current anti-aging scene, Retinoids , Fruit acids, vitamin C , peptides , Niacinamide or new biotech active ingredients such as Exosomes, PDRN, NAD or ectoine. These substances stimulate collagen, promote cell renewal, provide moisture, and have antioxidant effects. Daily UV protection is also important. Top anti-aging ingredients at a glance Retinoids They promote cell regeneration and reduce fine lines and pigmentation. They are considered the gold standard, but can cause irritation. Fruit acids such as AHA or BHA are also known as “chemical peels” and counteract hyperpigmentation (AHA) – e.g. age spots – or blemishes (BHA). Vitamin C (e.g. L‑ascorbic acid) brightens, supports collagen formation and provides antioxidant protection. Niacinamide soothes, strengthens the barrier and reduces pigmentation and redness. Peptides (e.g. Matrixyl, Argireline) have a firming effect, promote collagen production and reduce expression lines. Hyaluron Provides moisture and thus prevents wrinkles caused by dryness. New trends : exosomes, PDRN (regeneration), NAD (cellular repair), ectoin (stress protection), malassezine as a gentle vitamin C alternative. While niacinamide and peptides are generally well tolerated and the new biotech active ingredients have not yet been sufficiently researched, retinoids, vitamin C, and AHA/BHA are known to irritate the skin: The skin becomes drier, burns, and is at least temporarily reddened. The KAMI products: Ingredients & care potential SOS Skin Care Oil Contains a natural, antioxidant oil blend from poppy seed and plum kernel oil, for example – rich in vitamin E, omega fatty acids, and beta-carotene. Effect: Soothing, regenerating, nourishing . Ideal for inflamed, irritated, dry, or scarred skin, it supports skin renewal and leaves it feeling soft. SOS Skin Care Balm Similar to the oil, but in balm form, enriched with Shea butter , vegetable lanolin and coconut oil. Effect: Caring and protecting for dry, rough, and inflamed skin , such as eczema or scarred areas. Protects against transepidermal water loss. Soothing 2-phase spray Consists of a blend of natural oils such as Olive oil, plum kernel oil , Grape seed oil, carrot seed oil, with 60% pure Organic aloe vera gel. Effect: Anti‑oxidative, soothing, intensely moisturizing , ideal as a light spray, even in cases of sunburn or impaired skin barrier. Washing fluid Gently cleanses and pH skin-neutral with peach kernel oil and Copaiba Balm. Highly moisturizing, also suitable for balneotherapy use. Cares for dry skin and gently cleanses. Also suitable for the first step of a so-called "double cleansing" as it gently removes makeup. Recommendation: Anti-aging routine with retinoids/vitamin C & KAMI products Here's a sample routine for older, dry, or sensitive skin that wants to incorporate classic anti-aging ingredients: In the morning – with vitamin C, niacinamide or peptides Gentle cleansing (washing fluid) Vitamin C serum (e.g. L‑ascorbic acid or mild stabilized form) Optional: Niacinamide or peptide serum for barrier strengthening & wrinkle smoothing KAMI 2-Phase Spray – as a soothing moisture boost and to fix previous steps SOS skin care oil or balm selectively (e.g. lips, dry areas, scars) Finally Sun protection (SPF at least 30)  Evening – with retinoids Thorough cleansing (double cleansing if you wear make-up) with KAMI washing fluid as a first step Light toner or moisturizer Retinoid (Retinol/Retinal) Introduce 1–2 times per week, increase slowly 2-phase spray immediately afterwards to minimize irritation SOS Skin Care Oil – apply over large areas or locally to soothe Extra: For very dry areas, apply KAMI SOS skin care balm over it Why are KAMI products ideal for anti-aging care? Soothing & barrier protection : Oil, balm and spray reduce irritation with powerful active ingredients and support regeneration. Moisture & Nutrients : Essential fatty acids, vitamin E, beta-carotene and shea butter contribute to improved skin structure. Spot or booster care : After vitamin C or retinoids, KAMI products ensure that the skin dries out less and regenerates faster. Natural approach : No artificial ingredients – ideal for sensitive or reactive skin types that want gentle anti-aging care. Conclusion & practical tips Retinoids and vitamin C have been proven to counteract skin aging, but they also cause irritation. Combined with SOS oil, spray and balm from KAMI you can mitigate their effects and strengthen your skin sustainably. Build your routine slowly : Introduce retinoids gradually, using vitamin C in the morning and niacinamide or peptides on non-retinoid days. KAMI products help maintain balance. Don't forget UV protection – Retinoids and vitamin C make you more sensitive to UV radiation, so applying sunscreen daily is essential.
