How KAMI skincare was born
Neurodermatitis (atopic dermatitis) affects one in eight children and one in 20 adults . It manifests as rashes, eczema, and redness with intense itching. The youngest child of Viennese general practitioner Dr. Kerstin Schallaböck also suffered from it: Konstantin, affectionately known as Kami, was already scratching himself until he was sore at the age of one and had trouble sleeping. This placed a great strain on him and the entire family.
As a general practitioner, Dr. Schallaböck is familiar with the benefits of cortisone therapy – it works quickly and reliably. However, it is equally well known that cortisone thins the skin over time . It loses its ability to retain moisture. It's a vicious cycle: Because of the therapy, the human body's largest organ can no longer defend itself – and atopic dermatitis flare-ups become more frequent.
With KAMI skincare, Kerstin has developed a natural alternative or supplement. Its ingredients have been used in traditional European medicine for centuries: The natural corticosteroids in marmot oil soothe inflammation, while linoleic and linolenic acids strengthen the skin. Supported by high-quality plant oils such as poppy seed, plum, and grape seed oil, KAMI penetrates deep into the skin and promotes the regeneration of the skin barrier. Tanaisie annuelle extract and stress-reducing, calming lavender oil round out the treatment.
